Liu She is one of the most famous and influential ink painters in China. He has participated in numerous national and international exhibitions. His works are part of all relevant permanent collections of Chinese art museums. In addition, he has initiated and conducted many exhibitions on contemporary ink painting and has published several books on contemporary Chinese art. Liu She is intensively involved in the further development of artistic higher education in China. He currently teaches as Professor of Painting at the HfG partner universities Sichuan Fine Arts Institute and Nanjing Normal University and is Dean of the School of Fine Art.

Zack Chen, Jingdezhen/China

Workshop and lecture with Zack Chen, Merja Herzog-Hellstén and artists of the Hutian Ceramic Community from Jingdezhen/China, 25 June 2019.


Zack Chen is a porcelain artist and head of the "Jingdezhen Hutian Ceramic Community". This is an association of young Chinese ceramic artists and designers. This private initiative has set itself the task of reviving the ceramic culture in China and promoting international exchange. The community cooperates with 31 universities at home and abroad and offers extensive further education and basic programmes for the contemporary design and illustration of porcelain and ceramics. In addition, the community preserves and expands its own extensive collection of individual pieces relevant to cultural history and thus operates its own museum in Jingdezhen/China.

Svetlana Jakel hat Modedesign studiert und ein eigenes Modelabel gegründet. Danach wurde sie Artbuyerin bei Saatchi & Saatchi und Publicis in Frankfurt. 2002 gründete sie die Fotografen- und Illustratoren-Repräsentanz »kombinatrotweiss« in Frankfurt. Seit 2015 hat sie die Vertretung auf Illustratorinnen und Illustratoren fokussiert.

Naomi Kasumi, Seattle, USA

»Socially Engaged Art Practice« by Naomi Kasumi

Naomi Kasumi, Japanese Installation Artist, settled in USA. Professor of Digital Design as well as Professor of the Asian Studies Program and Director of the Siena Program in Italy all related to the Seattle University. All her art projects have a strong social relevance. Naomi Kasumi has exhibited in Vancouver, Brisbane, New Delhi, Budapest, Tokyo, Yokohama, Osaka, Kyoto, Nagano and Fukushima. Naomi’s research and creative work have been focused on a series of memorial rituals, and Tohoku Tsunami disaster relief projects, in a large-scale installation art form. She also works on variety of media such as: book art, video, printmaking, and graphic design. Naomi has held numerous international solo and group exhibitions at galleries, as well as public and educational institutions.

»Polis – Posters by Uwe Loesch«

Uwe Loesch presented more than 100 posters with political content during his 2 hours speech. A very impressive presentation! Uwe Loesch lives and works in Düsseldorf. He studied graphic design at Peter-Behrens-Werkkunstschule (nowadays called Peter Behrens School of Art). After his exams he started out as free lancing designer in his own studio in Düsseldorf. Today, he is the most acclaimed creator of posters both nationally and internationally. Amongst his regular clients he can count Kom(m)ödchen in Düsseldorf and the Klingspor Museum in Offenbach. Since 1984 many of his works have become part of the collection of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMa) in New York. In 1985 he became Professor for Design at Fachhochschule Düsseldorf; since 1990 he has served as Professor for communication design at Bergische Universität Wuppertal, succeeding Willy Fleckhaus. His work focusses on posters and Corporate Design. He has received countless international rewards and is a member of AGI, Alliance Graphique Internationale. In 2009 he was awarded the Gutenberg prize of the city of Leipzig, In 2013 he received the prestigious Design Prize of the German republic for his life's work.

在过去的33年里,中央电视台春晚节目在中国大陆电视收视率方面一直占有优势地位。向帆选择这个节目作为她的视觉化设计实验,在各种时间线上揭示出其色彩构成,作为一种观察国家传媒的方式,以最典型电视节目回答“中国有多红?” 通过上百万张的视屏分桢画面,向帆将会展示不同的时间线结构将可能如何改变视觉观察视野,启发听众反思我们每日所见的视觉元素构成。 另外,她还将展示33年的春晚视频视觉化成果,让听众可以看到国家电视语言的变迁。

演讲内容主要是对这次展览的主题、展出作品的创作目的和设计表现做介绍。 

中国神秘文化,是一个巨大的客观存在,是中国传统文化的重要组成部分。这次展出作品的创作目的,是尝试梳理中国当代视觉设计与中国传统文化之间的脉络,分享我们对中国设计思想基础的探索。我将介绍展出作品的四个主题,我们如何从四个不同角度探讨中国传统文化如何认知自我、环境和世界,让德国的老师和学生了解中国设计师的思维方式与设计方法。

Wu Yong is a well-known book and graphic designer from Beijing/Shantou in China. He is owner of a design studio in Beijing and Professor of Cheung Kong School of Art and Design, Shantou University. Besides he is AGI member (Alliance Graphigue Intemationale) and has won a lot of national and international awards for book design.
